University of the Pacific student Anthony Maximov, right, throws a colorful powder at fellow student Cassandra Gaal during a color run on the UOP campus in Stockton to kick off the college’s Weekend of Welcome start of the new school year. Freshmen and transfer students ran a 5-kilometer course that wound its way through the Stockton campus while being showered with the mulit-colored powder reminiscent of Holi, the Indian festival of colors. On Saturday, current Pacific students, faculty, alumni and staff will gather outside Faye Spanos Concert Hall to welcome the incoming class cheering in unison and showering students with confetti during the “Tiger Roar” at 11: 45 a.m. [CLIFFORD OTO/THE RECORD]
