Edison High students Julie Aguilar, left, Jennifer Romoi, Daniel Cecena and Darren Kaseumsouk go down with the ship as their handmade craft sinks in the school’s indoor pool in Stockton while particiapting in the annual Edison cardboard regatta. Thirty-eight M.E.S.A. (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) students worked for a bout a month in teams to build boats out cardboard and duct tape. The teams were scored on how many laps of the pool that they could complete in 10 minutes. CLIFFORD OTO/THE RECORD.
