University of the Pacific student Ozzie Ferozuddin tests out a shelter he built out of cardboard for the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity’s “Hit of Reality” event outside of the DeRosa Student Center on the university’s campus in Stockton. Thirty members of the fraternity will spend their nights outdoors in their handmade shelters from Wednesday through Friday. About 20 years ago the frat started event to raise awareness of homelessness and donations for the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless. The event has been on a hiatus for about 3 years but is back this year. The faternity says its raised about $10,000 in money and food donations so far. CLIFFORD OTO/THE RECORD.
