There are a number of standouts in the San Joaquin County Fair’s Photography Show. Some photographers won multiple prizes. One of those who showed special merit is Elliott Pasinsky of Lockeford. He won a number of awards, including several firsts in the more advanced Adult Open division. What’s notable is not just the high quality of his photographic skills (which are formidable), but also the fact that he’s just 17 years old.
I had first met Elliott briefly when I judged one of the Stockton Camera Club’s monthly contests a few years ago. He was a new member to the group, and they were rightly proud of his talent and ability.
The Stockton Camera Club has an incredible depth of photographic talent, and I’m sure he’s learned as much from them as they have gained from his youthful outlook and energy.
I’ve judged the fair’s photography show three times now, and when the results are tallied, it’s been a joy to see Elliott’s name on more and more of the winning entries each year.
Elliott has the eye and skills good enough to become a professional photographer, and he’s planning to attend the renowned Brooks Institute in Southern California next fall. Brooks is gaining a promising talent, and hopefully he will continue to enter the fair’s competition while pursuing his studies. If not, well, our loss will be the photographic world’s gain.
