Cowtown once more?

One of the reasons that the Kings basketball organization came to Sacramento was to help the city shed it’s small “cowtown” image, to help it become more of a “world-class city.” Certainly California’s state capital has gotten more exposure through nationally televised games. But after 26 years in Sacramento, the Maloofs, owners of the Kings, have threatened to move the team to Anaheim. Last Wednesday at what was likely the Kings’ last game in Sacramento, the King’s Dancers’ first routine featured the dance troupe wearing cowboy boots and hats and denim cutoff shorts. Maybe Sacramento hasn’t lost the “cowtown” label after all, or perhaps it’s reclaiming it for its own in preparation for the Kings departure.
