Pretty in pink

One stereotypically thinks of a girl’s pink shoes as dainty. A child’s tea party and frilly dresses with matching pink bows in their hair come to mind as do teddy bears and Easy Bake Ovens.

During a Delta College softball game against Reedley College last week, Delta pitcher Alaina Shull wore pink cleats, but her play was anything but dainty. With a fierce and determined look on her face, she scorched the ball over the plate and Delta dominated, 15-5.

Any girly-girl preconceptions that may go along with pink shoes were dispelled with Shull’s performance even though she did wear a matching pink bow in her hair.
