Blast from the past: Wag the dog

One of the things I look for is people doing ordinary things in unusual ways or places. And sometimes they just fall right into my lap. In March of 2000, I stopped at Tokay High in Lodi looking for a wild art photo. I saw some band members practicing after school outside the music room. I shot a few frames and then turned around and saw Mike Metzer walking his six dogs through he parking lot. The most I had seen anyone do previously was four, and those were little rat-sized dogs. He was straining to control the half-dozen
American pitbull terriers . He said that he walked them every day. Although Metzer didn’t flex his muscles for me, It was safe to say he had some Popeye-like strength in those forearms.
