Campaign notes: Endorsements and no shared stage in county District 5

Supervisors Carlos Villapudua and Larry Ruhstaller have joined outgoing Supervisor Leroy Ornellas in endorsing City Councilman Bob Elliott in his bid for Ornellas’ seat on the county Board of Supervisors. Elliott is running against Tracy Planning Commissioner Rhodesia Ransom.

The endorsements were in a release from the Elliott campaign noting that the candidate had accepted an invitation to speak at a candidates forum hosted by the Manteca Tea Party Patriots on Oct. 25. The release notes that organizers said Ransom hadn’t responded to her invitation.

And last week, it was the Ransom campaign accusing Elliott of not responding to a debate that the League of Women Voters was interested in hosting.

So, according to the dueling press releases, both Ransom and Elliott are keen on sharing the stage to talk to the public about their candidacies, but neither has responded to invitations to do just that.
