Campaign notes: Democratic poll shows McNerney leading Gill

Earlier this week, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released results of a poll showing Rep. Jerry McNerney is ahead Republican challenger Ricky Gill by 9 percentage points. Here’s a link to the poll memo.

“Jerry McNerney is in the lead because voters know he’s the one who fights for California’s seniors, veterans and middle class, and Ricky Gill has never even held a full-time job,” DCCC spokeswoman Amber Moon said in a statement announcing the poll.

Last week, the Gill campaign released a poll, too. It showed the race was a lot tighter, with independent voters favoring Gill, giving him an overall lead of 1 percentage point over McNerney.
