San Joaquin County Supervisor Leroy Ornellas endorsed Assemblyman Bill Berryhill, R-Stockton, in the race for a seat on the state Senate representing all of Stockton and the rest of San Joaquin county. Ornellas, also a Republican, ran for same seat, but the top-two vote-getters were Berryhill and Assemblywoman Cathleen Galgiani, D-Stockton.
Here’s an excerpt from the release sent out by the Berryhill campaign:
“Bill and I saw eye to eye on the major issues important to our Valley communities,” said Ornellas. “Bill will protect our Delta from powerful L.A. interests groups and work to derail the high speed rail project before it costs taxpayers billions of dollars with no significant return on investment.”
Ornellas is the second member of the Board of Supervisors to endorse a candidate in this race. Supervisor Ken Vogel was first, endorsing Berryhill in the primary.
