For the royally inclined

We’re hosting a live chat tomorrow at noon, talking about the upcoming Royal Wedding, which will air at roughly 3 a.m. (yikes!) on Friday here in California. You can watch live on YouTube if you want to set your alarm.

You can find The Record’s coverage of Prince William, Catherine Middleton and the wedding here. I confess to an interest in the nuptials, mostly because I maintain an ongoing love affair with St. Andrews, the town and university of the same name where the couple met and where I studied for a year back in my college days.

The prince was long gone by the time I set foot in the coastal Scottish town – he graduated in 2005 and I didn’t show up until late 2006 – but he was still a hot topic of conversation during my time there.

Here’s a few photos I took of St. Andrews way back in 2007:

It’s an absolutely lovely town and I hope to return one day. Here’s a quick video of Wills and Kate visiting St. Andrews more recently:

That video and the aforementioned YouTube stream are part of the Royal Family’s efforts to embrace the web and social media. They’re going all out – with Flickr, Facebook and Twitter pages that will have updates on the big day.

There’s even an app for that (courtesy of NBC). It’s a whole new ballgame compared to Princess Di’s 1981 wedding.

If you’re looking for local wedding-related activities, or just want to share your thoughts ahead of the Friday frenzy, join us tomorrow!
