iPhone 4 on Twitter and Facebook

Thousands of people are lined up at stores across the country to get their hands on the new iPhone 4. Are you in a line at an area store waiting for your phone right now? Did you camp out last night? Have you made it through the line and you’re excited to finally have your phone?

• At about 8:25 a.m., local party promoter Clint Shaw posted on Facebook that he was in line at a store in Modesto. “I’m in the camp out line…. The reserve line is getting there phones 1st and we still haven’t moved!!!… never again will I camp out!!” Shaw wrote. “Been here since 8pm the store opened at 7am and we haven’t moved. They said we were close enough to the front to get the phone. Now it’s just a matter of when….”

• At 8:27 a.m., Twitter user sandraz869 wrote: “I’m in Modesto Vintage Faire Mall Apple Store and the line here is about 2000 people deep! Ughh”

KCRA reported this morning that more than 700 people were lined up to buy the phone at Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, while the line was 200 people long at a Roseville store.

• At 8:39 a.m. Twitter user KenFisk Tweeted that about 70 people were lined up outside the Apple store at Stockton and Ellis streets in San Francisco.

• Local DJ Fonzie Navarro also is at Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto, and on Facebook he writes “The parking lot at the mall is full. The line for reservations is 200+ deep & the other line is at least twice the size.”

• At 9:12 a.m. Twitter user JWHA Tweeted this photo of the scene at the Apple store on Stockton Street in San Francisco, writing “This only captures the line on Stockton – the whole block of O’Farrell is a sea of people, too.”

• At 9:45 a.m. Twitter user svaldez21 Tweeted that he’d been in line for two hours and posted this photo of the scene at Vintage Faire Mall.

• At noon SF Weekly reported that there was a three-hour wait to get into the Apple Store in Union Square, San Francisco. Twitter user SylvieT Tweeted that free burritos were being doled out.

• As of 1 p.m., Clint Shaw was still in line in Modesto. “Wish I could time travel right now real bad!!! I have never waited in line for anything this long… Annoying but I’ve gone too far now to turn back!!” he wrote on Facebook.

• “In Tokyo’s swanky Ginza shopping district, a man dressed as a giant iPhone danced and waived his arms as he made it to the front of the line. “That’s one example of the craziness described in the latest AP story about iPhone sales, posted at 2 p.m.

• Here’s an update from Clint Shaw, posted on Facebook at 3:51 p.m.: “I have been in line for 20 hrs now… Just getting to the front.”
