Melissa Huckaby, the Tracy mother who pleaded guilty in May to killing 8-year-old Sandra Cantu in 2009, received a life sentence this morning without the possibility of parole. The sentencing hearing drew media outlets from Sacramento, the Bay Area and Fresno as well as San Joaquin County. At least nine television trucks were parked outside the courthouse (see photo below).
Daniel Cantu, Sandra Cantu’s father, and Huckaby’s family refused to answer reporters’ questions after the sentencing. You can watch video of them leaving the courthouse above.
