Pre-election citizen journalism from Tracy

Tracy residents Joleen Ruffin and Mike Pihlman – both of whom I’ve interviewed in the past about the former Tracy Virtual Office, now Altamont Cowork – did some citizen reporting for yesterday.

Tracy Island is a social networking site and general news site that Ruffin runs partially from home, partially from Altamont Cowork.

With low voter turnout expected in today’s primary election, Ruffin and Pihlman took a walk through downtown Tracy and asked people if they were voting in today’s election. Some just answered yes or no. Some elaborated on why. It’s a quick video that represents a snapshot of the site’s viewing public.

Take a look.

Kudos to Ruffin and Mike for putting something together to preview today’s election. It’s a nice bit of citizen video journalism.
