This column pulls no punches

I’m originally from Michigan — the only one of our 50 states that lost population between the 2000 and 2010 Census counts.

Detroit? The automotive home of America? It’s population is lower than any Census since 1910.

The state of Michigan, like California, also is grappling over issues of pay, pension and other benefits for public employees.

Here’s a piece from a columnist at a newspaper in Michigan, the Holland Sentinel. Pretty brash and bold. Whether or not you agree with his viewpoint, he gets it across clearly.
