Heads up, potential governors

Our loss is the Sacramento Bee’s gain.
David Siders, who covers Stockton city government for The Record, has accepted a reporting job with The Bee. His last day here will be June 4.
He’s moving to a high-profile beat that will suit him well. David will work in the Bee’s Capitol Bureau covering politics and the governor’s office.
Good-bye Johnston, Chavez, Podesto, et. al.
Hello Whitman, Poizner or Brown.
David has worked at The Record for the past six years. He’s a native of Minnesota and a Twins fan (I’ll never forgive him for the Twinkies beating my Detroit Tigers in the one-game playoff last year).
David and his wife, Record reporter Jennifer Torres, also are recent first-time parents with a lovely daughter named Alice California.
David is a first-rate reporter who combines old-school, shoe-leather tenacity with modern journalistic techniques. He will do very well covering his new beat.
The Record’s Daniel Thigpen will switch from the Lodi city government beat to cover Stockton City Hall. Keith Reid will take over Thigpen’s coverage area.
My real disappointment: I never did get a chance to hear Siders saw away at his cello. We’ve heard he has a bit of Yo-Yo Ma in him.
Damn proud of you, David.
