District 9 voters outside of Lodi are mostly Democrat

The Secretary of State posted its registered voter statistics today, and the newly formed 9th Assembly District “are what we thought they were” to slightly modify a quote from former Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green.

The district is mostly Democrat, but not in Lodi.

Here’s the breakdown. Of 206,977 in Sacramento County and San Joaquin County the 45.38 percent are registered Democrats compared to 32.41 percent Republicans. (93,931 Dems and 67,071 Rep)

San Joaquin County brings a good part of that 32 percent, though.

Of 31,678 total San Joaquin County voters registered, 16,418 are Republican and 9,576 are Democrat.

District 9 is a redrawn district that extends from South Sacramento through Lodi. Tony Amador (R-Lodi) is facing off against Richard Pan (D-Sacramento) in November’s election.
