Video: “I Have a Dream” and more from MLK Day

Yesterday’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at the Bob Hope Theatre in Stockton featured some moving presentations of King’s sermons and speeches. Here are full-length videos of two of those presentations. At top, actor and Bear Creek High School student provides an excerpt of King’s “The Birth of a New Nation” sermon, which was given first on April 7, 1957 at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. At bottom, the Rev. Norman Thurman reads King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, which was first delivered on Aug. 28, 1963 at the March on Washington.

Note: The movie at bottom is a large file; consider clicking pause immediately after clicking play to let it load fully before watching it.
