Halloween redux
Saturday, I wrote about the dilemma families face when their kids bring home a huge haul of Halloween. Becky Mizener of Packed With Pride said she’d love to take that leftover candy. She runs a nonprofit Stockton organization that sends care packages to U.S. troops overseas. You can contact her via email. Her email address is becky@packedwithpride.com. She emailed me today, saying she’s received a great response from folks looking to donate candy.
Another reader, emailed me with a story about the Candy Witch. Nancy Shephard, a retired kindergarten teacher, says one of her favorite young families has a tradition that helps get rid of that candy bounty. Late on Halloween night, when the trick or treaters are fast asleep, the Candy Witch sneaks into their home and spirits away most of the candy — leaving some favorites behind along with a new toothbrush and several crisp dollar bills. Cute trick. And a fun story!
Hopefully, the Candy Witch donates that loot to Becky Mizener’s organization.
