Delta College is Packed full of Action this Week!

This week we have a number of home athletic events:

  • Tuesday – Baseball vs Modesto at 2:30.
  • Tuesday – Softball vs Santa Rosa at 3:00.
  • Wednesday – Men’s Golf at The Reserve at Spanos at noon.
  • Friday – Swimming and Diving: Big 8 Diving Invitational at 11:00
  • Saturday – Swimming and Diving: Diving and Sprint meet at 11:00.
  • Saturday – Softball hosts a double header vs Cosumnes River at noon.

Baseball: The team started Big 8 play with a 4-3 win over Modesto. Saturday’s game at Modesto will have to be rescheduled due to field conditions. This week they are home against Modesto at 2:30 on Tuesday. Saturday they play at Cosumnes River.

Men’s Golf: They had last week off from competition and compete at home this Wednesday at the Reserve at Spanos at Noon.

Softball: The team went 2-1 this week. The defeated Folsom Lake 10-3 on Tuesday and split with Sierra on Saturday (8-5, 4-5). This week they are home vs Santa Rosa at 3:00 on Tuesday and home again on Saturday at noon in a double header against Cosumnes River.

Swimming and Diving: At the 23 team Cuesta Invitational both the women’s and men’s Delta teams finished in 4th place. This Friday the swimmers compete at the Big 8 Invitational at Diablo Valley, while we host the Big 8 Invitational Diving meet here at Delta at 11:00. On Saturday the team hosts the Delta Invitational Diving and Sprint meet on Saturday at 11:00.

Track and Field: The teams competed in the Jack Albiani Invitational at Modesto this weekend. On the men’s side strong performances were turned in by Gerard Featherson (1st 110 hurdles), Louie Berandicou (3rd pole vault), Stanley Young (3rd triple jump) and Julio Nicaragua (3rd steeplechase). For the women Laury Ashly Diboki was 2nd in high jump, 2nd triple jump, and 3rd in shotput while teammates Joy Bragg (3rd pole vault) and Shapre Jones (2nd shot) also placed high. This Saturday they compete at the Hornet Invitational at CSU Sacramento.
