Busy Year Awaits Us in 2016….

Another busy year of sports is coming up in 2016.  Stockton, known to put on top quality sporting events, will serve host to several key national championship events as well as will serve host to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the first time…in what will be (at least) three years in a row.

SOME of the key sporting events for the year include:

 

CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Wrestling Championships

California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Conference Basketball Championships

California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Conference Softball Championships

Dates:                   April 29 to May 1

 

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Women’s Golf Super Regionals

Facility:                 Brookside Golf & Country Club

Dates:                   May 2 to 4

 

California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Conference Baseball Championships

Facility:                 Stockton Ballpark (Banner Island Ballpark)

Dates:                   May 12 to 14

 

West Coast Conference (WCC) Conference Baseball Championships

Facility:                 Stockton Ballpark (Banner Island Ballpark)

Dates:                   May 26 to 28

 

USA/ASA Softball National 10u Softball Championships

Facility:                 Arnaiz Softball Complex

Dates:                   July 31 to August 7

 

Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) US Masters National Championships

Facility:                 Oak Grove Regional Park

Dates:                   September 9 to 11

 

Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Collegiate Golf Tournament

Facility:                 Stockton Golf & Country Club

Dates:                   October 27 to 29

 

This list is just a small part of the on-goings within Stockton.  Naturally there are hundreds of other events that local organizers put on.  For more information on any of these events, or to check on events that might be happening on any given day, please visit www.visitstockton.org.

Coming up in 2017 – the BIGGEST event that Stockton has seen as it comes to size of event, national exposure and economic impact.  The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has awarded Stockton the right to host the Division I Women’s Basketball Regional Rounds (Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight Rounds).  The event will happen the final weekend of March, 2017 with games being held either Saturday and Monday or Sunday and Tuesday.  More information will be released when possible.
