Big Wins for Delta Athletics

Mustang football had a great comeback win at Sequoias on Saturday night. With less than a minute left in the game quarterback Phillip Kimble covered 75 yards with two passes, 43 yards to Jaxon Wagner and 32 yards to Andre Lindsey for the game winning touchdown.

Tied for 1st place in the Big 8 (with Sierra and ARC) Mustang Volleyball got a big 3-1 win at Sierra on Wednesday.

This week Mustang Volleyball has home games on Wednesday and Friday at 6:30. Women’s soccer has a home game vs Sac City on Friday at 6:30.

 

Women’s Golf: The team finished 4th at Big 8 Conf #8 @ Butte Country Club in Chico (par 72). Team scores: Sierra 325, Modesto 354, Butte 358, Delta 364, Sac City 379, Santa Rosa 415, Am River 425, Mendocino 480. Delta Individuals: Rebecca Wolf 89, Katherine McBride 89, Genevieve Pascale 91, Kristen Khan 95, Taylor Robinson 98, Katie Hankins 103. This Thursday they have Big 8 #9 at Whitney Oaks GC in Rocklin.

Men’s Soccer: The team went 1-1 last week. They won 1-0 at Skyline on Tuesday. Friday they lost 0-1 at Modesto.   They are on the road again this week, Tuesday at CRC and Friday at Santa Rosa.

Women’s Soccer: Their one game last week was a tough 0-1 loss at Modesto. The team is currently 11-2-2. This week they are at American River on Tuesday and at home vs Sac City on Friday at 6:00.

Women’s and Men’s Cross Country: The team had last week off from competition. This Friday they have the Big 8 Championships at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa.

Football: Football had an exciting 42-38 victory at Sequoias on Saturday. With less than a minute left in the game the Mustangs faced a fourth-and-nine on their won 25-yard-line, when Phillip Kimble connected with Jaxon Wagner for 43 yards to the Sequoias 32. With 31 seconds left in the game Andre Lindsey caught a TD in the end zone to put Delta up 42-38. The team is now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in Valley League play. This Saturday at 1:00 they play at Fresno City.

Volleyball: The Mustangs made their lone game count last week with an important 25-22, 19-25, 25-11, 25-22 win at Sierra. We are now tied with ARC for first place in the Big 8. The team is home this week at 6:30 Wednesday vs Sac City and 6:30 Friday vs CRC.

Men’s Water Polo: They went 2-2 at the Golden West Invitational. On Friday they played well in a couple of losses to LA Valley (13-18) and Cerritos (10-15). On Saturday they had a big win over Cuesta 11-8, and then beat American River in OT 11-10. Delta is 18-11 on the season and 3-1 in Big 8 conference play. In their final regular season game they are at American River this Wednesday.

Women’s Water Polo: On Wednesday they won at home 18-8 over Fresno to go to 6-0 in the Big 8. The Mustangs finished 4th at the Battle at the Beach tournament. On Friday they extended their win streak to 16 games with a 1st round win over Ventura 15-8, followed by a 10-9 victory over tournament host Long Beach. On Saturday they lost an 8-9 battle to DVC and fell 10-15 to Riverside in the consolation final. In their final regular season game they are at American River this Wednesday.

Wrestling: The team competed this past weekend in the Meat Movers Invitational at Cuesta College. This Wednesday they have a dual meet at Shasta.
