Delta College – Women’s Water Polo wins Tournament…Athletics Update

Women’s water polo had a great week going 5-0 and winning the San Diego Mesa Tournament.   Volleyball began Big 8 conference play with two 3-set wins. Women’s soccer continues their great season with two Big 8 conference wins to move to 10-0 on the year.

After a couple of weeks on the road volleyball returns home this Wednesday at 6:30 vs Santa Rosa. On Friday Men’s and Women’s soccer have home games at 4:00 and 7:00.   These are Faculty Appreciation games where the sophomores will be acknowledging faculty who have influenced them during their time at Delta.

 

 

Women’s Golf: At Big 8 #5 @ Yolo Fliers in Woodland (par 72) the team finished in 4th place. Scores: Sierra 323, Butte 338, Modesto 346, Delta 359, Sac City 372, Am River 407, Santa Rosa 435, and Mendocino 490. Delta individual scores: Katherine McBride 87, Taylor Robinson 89, Genevieve Pascale 91, Kristen Khan 92, Katie Hankins 95, Lexus Barnes 105. This week they compete on Tuesday at the Big 8 #6 in Sacramento at Ancil Hoffman GC, and on Thursday at the Jan High Memorial at Bing Maloney GC also in Sacramento.

Men’s Soccer: On Friday at America River the team finished with a 0-0 tie and are 1-1-1 in conference play. This week they are away at West Hills on Tuesday and have a home game vs Fresno City on Friday at 4:00.

Women’s Soccer: They remain undefeated at 10-0 and 3-0 in the Big 8. They started the week on Tuesday with a hard fought 1-0 win over American River. On Thursday they defeated Sac City 7-0. They have scored 39 goals and given up only one goal. This week they are away at Sierra on Tuesday and have a home night game on Friday vs. CRC at 7:00

Women’s and Men’s Cross Country: A few men’s runners competed in the Modesto Invitational. Most of the team took this weekend off to rest and prepare for the Toro Park Invitational this Friday in Salinas.

Football: The Mustangs lost an away game at Butte 19-34 to finish 2-3 in non-league play.  This is their bye week with no game. They begin league play at home on Oct. 17th vs Chabot.

Volleyball: On Wednesday they opened Big 8 play with a 26-24, 25-9, 25-18 win over Sac City. On Friday at CRC they won in three games, 25-14, 25-12, 25-7. They are 9-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play. This week they are back home at 6:30 on Wed. vs Santa Rosa and away at American River on Friday.

Men’s Water Polo: After a very busy two weeks the team had break from competition. They play again this week at Diablo Valley on Wednesday.

Women’s Water Polo: They had a great week going 5-0. It started with a home win on Wednesday 11-6 over Sac City. Then they headed down south and were crowned champions of the San Diego Mesa Tournament. On Friday they opened with a 13-2 win over Miramar and a 15-4 win over Cerritos. On Saturday in the semifinals they defeated Palomar 16-9. In the finals vs San Diego Mesa they forced an OT with a last minute goal and went on to win 9-8. This week they are at Diablo Valley on Wednesday.

Wrestling: The team had a break from competition this week. They are back on the mat on October 10th at the Modesto Tournament.
